Count me in, 100%. I'll see if I can attract some interest from non-forum regulars too once it's totally confirmed.
Any other details? Venue, open times, number of acts/sets, money, that sort of thing. The sooner it's all confirmed, the sooner I can get some people along to play. DigiVom-released artists only?

Well, the venue we're looking at is one of the trendy places on Brick Lane (but not 93 Feet East). I don't want to name it, in case I jinx it. We've still got to meet them in person to talk about it all.
Opening times 7 - 11:30
Number of acts = well, however many we want. I think we're aiming for perhaps five or six short-ish sets, but depending on interest, we'd definitely try and squeeze in more.
I think in terms of who we have, DigiVom regulars should be given priority, then other interesting people after that. Ultimately there shouldn't really be any barrier to entry (as with CBML), but unfortunately time is a limited resource, so released artists get first dibs. Also, we've kinda sold this to them as a CD launch party (:
Money...? Well, we don't want to pay them any money, and they probably won't want to pay us any either (although who knows?) I don't think we should charge on the door, so I guess we might all get a few beers out of it. Also, there's probably the option of flogging some CDs while we're there, but I doubt many would sell on the night...

i'm cool with spinning some tunes between bands, provided someone can provide equipment because i haven't got any!
i have a portable DVD player as well, if you can get a projecter then we can put together some visuals. maybe everybody can submit images and video or something?
just a thought.

This sounds great - shame I can't make it, Clara is due to be (hopefully) training at a kickboxing camp in Thailand, so I will have to stay at home and look after the kids.

Developments are that between me, Hooray and the guy we're trying to speak to (who apparently is only in his office two days a week at weird times), we've not managed to get any further with this yet...
What I would say at this stage is to assume that the event is going ahead, but that the date isn't fixed.
Sorry for the lameness... But then we were planning on having a little longer before the CDs got back... Too damned efficient this time.
We'll keep everyone posted as soon as we get the next bit of news.

Nope, sorry. It's kinda out of our hands for now - we pitched the thing to Mr Big in person this week, and he's keen, but 1) everything is booked up for October, and 2) us getting a gig at this particular venue is dependent on him listening to our CD and not hating it.
We'll give him a few more days to get back to us, and if it's not happening, we'll move onto the next few choices of venue.

By the way, if anyone else has any contacts or ideas for places to do stuff in London, please feel free to organise something, start the ball rolling somewhere, or pass on any leads to me and Hooray.
At this stage, we're still looking for somewhere central-ish, free, nice atmosphere, with passing trade.
If that's not going to pan out, we'll move on to looking at places we can have a dedicated night in, or hire out. We'd rather not do something like that if possible, because to be honest I just can't see us attracting enough people to fill somewhere properly. But maybe I'm being a bit of a pessimist?

Yup, the news is that I'm being really lame and have had to put this on the back burner due to too many things to sort out in other areas of my life...
The BB is a good venue, but it costs money to hire, which means we've either got to pay for it ourselves, or charge a door fee. Personally, I'm against charging on the door because it'll put people off coming, and it just feels wrong. So me and Hoo would put the money down for it, which would usually be fine, but I'm not working right now so don't have the cash to hand.
OK, so I feel like my lameness here is turning into something of a roadblock to organising an event. So I'm going to say now that if anyone else wants to take the incentive and organise an event in London or indeed anywhere in the south of the UK, that'd be great, and me and Hoo will be behind it 100%. But beyond that, I can't promise that I'm going to get anything sorted myself in the near future. Sorry.
