OK, so the previous attempt didn't quite work. I'm optimistic however that we can put on something cool. The Buffalo Bar have just posted their 2007 calendar up to June, so now we have a good list of possible dates. Gloriously, lots of them appear to be Fridays. I'll be getting in touch soon to find out the actual booking method(s) and requirements. For those who don't know, the BB is a small bar right next to Highbury/Islington tube station in London, with a maximum capacity of 150. It's lovely inside, good atmosphere, a fairly big "backstage" area, and their PA sounds great. LOUD.www.buffalobar.com.So, the cost. It's ?00 for the venue, which covers PRS charges (ha!) and a sound engineer, as well as the venue of course. There's a ?50 deposit too, which will be refunded if the bar takes in ?00 (if the event's free, this should be no problem), and presumably if there's no major damage done. So I'll need ?50 altogether. The ?00 isn't necessarily a problem, it's the ?50 that'll be the most tricky thing, despite it being the bit I get back. If anyone can help with this, or any of the costs, let me know. Of course, If each person paid ? entry and we filled the place out, we'd be fine. But then that goes against the free thing...Acts then. Jansky Noise wants to do it (and if it happens, it gives me an excuse to put Planet Mu on the flyer in big letters, attracting more people), and I reckon Fast Lady will be up for it too. Besides them... Pretty much all of my local posse wants to do it (BIA, CATB, Massive Hospitalisation, ZEROPOINTENERGY... (the latter's taking part in volume 4)), and I'm sure there will be a fair few folks on here wanting to do something too. Of course, then we have the dilemma of who can and cannot play. I'm in no doubt that not everyone who wants to play will be able to. I'm taking myself out of the equation - I anticipate I'll be too busy that night to do a live set. And I really don't want to run half the night injured after spazzing out on the tiled floor. However, be warned that not everyone may be able to take part in one night. If the first one goes well, maybe a second night will happen. We'll see... For now though, I'd like to go for as wide a variety of acts as possible, and priority will almost certainly go to those willing to travel furthest. I'm going to surprise myself here and say that the better known acts (that is, those who will attract an audience)may get priority too, although I'd like to think that we can pack the place out on the strength of just a small handful of "names", and have a load of "unknowns" play alongside them.Final note - I've not been in direct touch with the Bar yet, so this could all turn out to be balls. Just a warning...
