On a personal note, in case anyone gives a shit:

I'm engaged.  My "domestic partner" of 5 years and I are going to have a commitment ceremony.  I popped the question last night at his 50th birthday karaoke party.  (I'm 38 - probably the old-timer of this bunch - how appropriate, huh?  Old Man Coyote....)

Which (ahem, Solypsis) begs the political question, where do I stand on same-sex marriage?  Well, I think that the government should have never gotten involved in the first place with something that is between two people and their higher power.  But, since the genie is out of the bottle, I am for it.

congratulations, mitch!

obviously, i'm all for people marrying whoever the hell they want to marry --- how the hell is it the government's business? seriously, think about it --- the government has the fucking nerve to tell people who they can marry? when you say it out loud it sounds ridiculous and somewhat fascist.

i think bush is so adamently against gay marriage because he's jealous that people out there are having sex and enjoying themselves (i mean, c'mon --- george probably hasn't nailed laura in a couple decades...and back then he was all coked up and couldn't remember anything, or even feel his penis).

uhhh....that last sentence made me shudder...

anyways, congrats.

Congratulations.

It's should be a good year for it (UKdragon and I are geting married in the summer).
I popped the question on her birthday (it's the best way to make it and keep it as a surprise).

I did wonder (until you said) if I was the olderest here. Sorry, but it's still you (but only by a few years).

I have commissioned Australian freelance/furry/commercial artist Mutley James to do the artwork for my planned CD, and he posted one of the preliminary sketches for it on his blog, so I suppose it's OK to post it here.  I'm really stoked about dressing my work up in his.

Jon Nelson from the nationally syndicated radio show Some Assembly Required e-mailed me saying that sometime in the second quarter of 2007, he'd like to play a track of mine, and sent me an e-mail questionnaire to fill out and return so I could be featured on the show blog.  The show is available as a podcast for those of you who don't get the show locally (like myself).

The show is devoted to sample-based music.  They've played V/Vm before, and they play a lot of stuff like Negativland, the Bran Flakes, the Tape-Beatles, Cassetteboy, and miscellaneous mashups and bastard pop.  Not all of it is as challenging as I'd like, but it's still well worth trawling through for the things that are.

Anyhow, I thought I'd share the happy news.  I've also updated my personal website with actual links to all the stuff I've got archived there at present, and I've updated Hallo Excentrico! with links to audio that I'm hosting on behalf of Vukzid and Cock Rock Disco.  Watch for a new online release from Distance soon....

I found him, actually.  I think I heard about the show on the V/Vm forum; I've slept since then.  *lol*  I sent him a copy of Selected I-Am-Bent Works v1 back in the day.  Then a few months ago, he mentioned on the air that he didn't know for sure what the source material was for a certain mashup he played (it was Depeche Mode and Kylie Minogue).  I knew, so I emailed him and plugged Hallo Excentrico! while I was at it.  I didn't think much more about it until the email came.  At this time he is planning to play "Church Across the Tracks," which is one of my V/Vm 365 remixes.  I assume he chose that one because it samples "fredeadie," V/Vm's processing of a choral version of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" - he's all about the pop culture samples.  I hope it brings more attention to the interactive aspect of V/Vm 365 - how James has actually invited other artists to borrow his work and make new stuff out of it, what a flip of the script that is, and what it could do for the future of sample-based music.

Dude.  If I had that kind of money, I'd spend it on something useful, like financing CD releases that don't suck.

The Cock E.S.P. remix I did for Miscellaneous Deviations is now on a Cock E.S.P. CD-R on the Noise2 label called Drikk For ?Glemme, Men Ikke Glem ?Drikke.  (Anybody here speak Norwegian?  If so, what the hell does that mean?)  Nicely packaged, hand-numbered limited edition of 100.  It showed up in my mail today unannounced.  Needless to say, I'm psyched.  Thanks Emil!
