not that anyone has necessarily noticed, but i've been unable to spend much time posting here or on the wiki/blog because the RAM in my computer went rotten and my harddrive containing EVERYTHING from the last 2 years died.
so yeah...if i had any of your potential releases (khonnor/datarapist/alien hand)....it's all gone, as is all my unreleased stuff and all of my own photographs, software, mp3s, movies, etc.
it's been a lovely week.
that's all for now/

*GASP*
Well, aren't you glad now that you made Purge? That sucker's gonna be mineable for ages.
Do you need me to send you back the stuff you've sent me? I did save it all and back it up 'cause I'm a packrat and - let's face it - Solypsis fanboy.

What a complete bitch. This is the reason I bought an external hard-drive, just to back up all my music, samples etc. Trouble is, somebody told me the other day that I really need to buy another external hard-drive just to back up everything on that drive...

thanks for all of your sympathy...as stupid and insignificant as a dead hard drive is in the grand scheme of things, it's still painful to lose that much of your life in a flash. i try to back everything up on DVDr, but obviously that isn't always done...
it's for reasons like this that vital pieces of history are disappearing in the digital age...people rarely print out their photos any more, so photography is ironically NOT becoming archived like it used to be. i read an article somewhere that detailed how personal history is disappearing because of the very convenience of digital storage and people don't have photo albums like they used to. quite sad, really.
anyways, this was an external drive that died --- so much for it being a "back-up"!
hopefully some lessons have been learned....
oh, and mitch --- just re-host all that missing music when you can. thanks --

Sorry about that man.
It's actually never occurred to me that this may happen.
I am gonna back up everything onto dvd this week.
Thanks for the heads up, as they say.
Or revert back to my trusty old hardware sequencer and sampler with floppy disc.
It's funny, this is exactly why for years i refused to touch a pc or mac - lack of reliability.
Imagine turning up for a gig and the laptop fucks up (i bet its happened plenty of times).
Lets take a moment to remember our old friends the Akai MPC2000XL, Yamaha RM1X, Korg Electribes and other little hardware beauties.
Long may their lovely little knobs, sliders and floppies rest in peace.
